Residents and visitors to the area often comment on the beauty of the enormous sky and grassy rolling hills. The openness and vast landscape are dramatic and offer a different beauty than many have experienced before. With the vast sky, sunrises and sunsets dominate the scenery and have been known to stop travelers, who decide to pull over and enjoy the view. In addition to the abundant prairie and rolling cropland that surrounds the Red Cloud and Guide Rock community, there is also the Willa Cather Memorial Prairie, a 608 acre loess, mixed grass prairie. This never-been-plowed, native prairie is an ecological gem that is being conserved and restored to its pre-1900 conditions. The newly established walking trails are a great place for residents and visitors to explore. Click here to learn more about the Willa Cather Memorial Prairie.
